2 Powerful Blogging Scripts: Boast Machine and bBlog
bBlog and Boast Machine are two powerful PHP-based Blog scripts for you to run on your sever and host your own blog site, like Wordpress but smaller and more simple.
|
To be totally honest with you I’ve always used Blogger.com or had my servers’ installer (Fantastico) install Wordpress on my server for me, so I don’t have a use for these scripts. But I recognize that many of you do, for one reason or another. If you need to run a blog on your own server and Wordpress isn’t easy to install there, give these guys a try.
Boast machine is much simpler than Wordpress and even bBlog, weighing in at a dainty 204 kbs. Still, I can see that it has lots of features like support for smilies and notifications that I’d associate with a full-featured blog. |
 |
bBlog is much larger, 740kb, and has a more visual interface. I am almost curious enough to load it on my server to test if it’s better than Wordpress! (Almost…)
I see in the installation file as well that they support permalinks, so both of these free Blog platforms should be great for SEO purposes.
Boast Machine is freeware and bBlogs is GNU. (Open source) They both have pretty simple PHP installation, with instructions, and both will require a MySql database to run on.
